Microsoft provides lots of hardware and software products for its customers. They provide all the facilities to their clients regarding services. If we talk about Windows PC, they are very reliable and easy to use. Some might prefer Mac OS over Windows but to be honest, Windows is more customizable and convenient to use, and budget-friendly also.
The services that Microsoft includes are the bloatware it provides with its Windows PC and Laptops. One of the bloatware or software Microsoft provides in their PC and laptop is Microsoft Windows Defender. Learn how to disable and enable Windows Defender ahead in the article.

So What is Windows Defender?

Windows Defender is an antivirus which is a default software provided by Microsoft. Windows Defender is available for Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, and Windows 10. The Windows Defender on Windows Vista, 7, 8 and 8.1 are not as much efficient as the one on Windows 10 as it only scanned Spyware and Adware in the computer. Windows Defender on Windows 10 is much better than its Predecessors. In Windows 10 and Windows 8.1, the Windows Defender has based on Microsoft security essential apps which offer better protection against malware.

But as per some research, it has been proved that Windows default defender does not compete with other antivirus developed by third-party companies. In that case, you might want to disable Windows Defender. Well, I’m going to show you how you can enable and disable Windows Defender using Registry Editor.

So follow the guide carefully for Disabling Windows Defender on your Windows PC and Laptops:

Step 1. The first thing you would want to do is start up your computer and after it will boot up, click on the Windows icon and go to “Settings.” Now the configuration window will open up on your screen.

Step 2. Now on the right side of the windows click on Windows Defender, and you will see that real-time protection, and Cloud-based security is On which means that Windows Defender is enabled. So we have to Disable it.

Step 3. Now cut the Windows Defender and press “Windows icon + R on your Keyboard. A pop up will come and now type “Regedit” and press enter.

Step 4. The Registry Editor will open now go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policues\Microsoft\indows Defender.

Step 5. Right, Click on a space and select New and create a DWORD value. Rename the DWORD to “DisableAntispyware.”

Step 6. Now right-click on the newly created value and set its value from 0 to 1.

Step 7. Now Windows Defender has been disabled. To confirm it, you can click on Settings again and go to Windows Defender again. You will see that Real-time Protection and Cloud-based protection are no more enabled.

How to enable Windows Defender.

1. Press Windows + R and open Registry Editor again.

8. Browse again through HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policues\Microsoft\Windows Defender.

2. Right-click onDWord and click on modify.

3. Set the value from 1 to 0 to enable it.

4. Now press enter and Windows Defender will be enabled again.

Note: Each time you enable and disable it you have to reboot your PC.
